October is Women in History Month in Canada
We chose four amazing women to honour for Women in History month in Canada. To all the other great women from mothers to scholars, from teachers to doctors, from nannies to politicians, we thank you.
Roberta Bondar was Canada's first female astronaut. She made history during the 1992 mission aboard the space shuttle Discovery! She also holds several medical degrees including one in neuroscience. Pretty amazing.
Hayley Wickenheiser, from Saskatchewan, was a leader in women's hockey. Representing Canada she helped bring home four gold medals and one silver medal in the Olympics. Well played!
We cannot forget Viola Desmond, the black Nova Scotian business women who challenged racial segregation at a film theatre in 1946. Her image now graces the Canadian ten dollar banknote. Perseverance!
Buffy Sainte Marie is an award winning Cree singer/songwriter, artist, educator and activist! She has one Junos, Gemeni awards, the Polaris music prize, Academy awards along with so many other honours! A proud and prolific Canadian legend!
Take the time to remember all the women in your life who make the world a better place!
