How To Make The Perfect French Press

[Before we begin let's make sure that the equipment you’re using is clean. Leftover grinds in the press can make your coffee bitter. Also, keep your grinder, burr grinder or mortar and pestle clean. We’ll have an entire Coffee School 101 on how to keep clean the tools that bring you your perfect buzz.]

Start by grinding your Mornin’ Buzz Coffee to a coarse grind. Think bread crumbs if you don’t have a setting for this. The ratio of coffee used can be very personal but 1tbsp to 1cup is a fair place to begin.

Bring a pot of water to boil and then let it settle for 1 or 2 minutes. Ideally, you would like a temperature around 200F.

Pour extra hot water into your French Press to warm it before use. Empty before adding the fresh ground coffee.

Once the boiled water has reached the ideal temperature you can pour the grinds into the French Press and then pour enough coffee to cover the grinds. Stir the coffee and let bloom for one minute. Gently pour the remaining water until full.

Set a timer for 5 to 6 minutes.

Plunge your French Press gently and decant into a warmed mug.

Sit back and enjoy!
